SO, WHAT DO WE ACTUALLY DO?
OUR MISSION OF LOVE IS EXPRESSED THROUGH…
SERVICE to our #wrinkledtreasures
- We have been called by the Lord to serve Him in the “distressing disguise” and in the reality of the poor, especially our often forgotten and needed elderly, pillars of the community and images of God’s meekness.
PROCLAIMING the Good News of God’s tender love
- Confident of God’s faithful and transforming love, we live out our faith as a family testifying that GOD IS LOVE and HE IS with His people in the here and now!
BUILDING up the
Body of Christ
- We are a part of the amazing Mayan community of San Lucas Tolimán and also of a growing network of people of goodwill, seeking to bring the Kingdom of God in concrete and effective ways.
ONGOING PROJECTS:
“TORTILLAS DE AMOR” Feeding Program
We serve 140 elderly of our local community through our nutrition and feeding program, home visits, ministry of consolation and basic health care. Many of our elderly live in terrible conditions, often without a home of their own or appropriate housing, without family and neglected as they age and face the overwhelming poverty of this small but beautiful third world country.
“CASA FELIZ ” Project – for the homeless and dying elderly
We are currently reconstructing and remodeling “Casa Feliz”, an abandoned orphanage that served as home for more than 200 children during the civil war. We are working on transforming this place of blessing and peace into an oasis of hope where the elderly in need can find a home and proper care.
CASA “A.M.A.R.”
The Purpose of the annex building at Casa Feliz continues to unfold and develop. We hoped it would be a welcoming temporal home for individuals, families and groups who feel called to give of their time and share their gifts with the people we serve, but it is becoming something more than that.
“Casa A.M.A.R. ” begins to feel like an “oasis” of contemplation and prayer where anyone can encounter the Lord’s healing love, not just in the poor they meet, but perhaps most importantly in their own poverty and pain. God has blest us with the space and the gifts to guide our guests in a journey of healing and to allow the Holy Spirit to continue the work of transformation we all thirst for.
“A.M.A..R.” stands for “Atenta Mirada Amorosa a la Realidad” (Attentive Loving Gaze towards Reality) and it is all about a journey into each person’s truth, where nature, silence, service and prayer can bear fruits of contemplation, healing and deeper awareness of God’s presence and love in our lives and in the world.
Let us see where the Holy Spirit leads this project and those that feel called to an encounter with God @ “Casa A.M.A.R.”
